Donovan Ferreira delivered a blazing fifty to steer Rajasthan Royals to a commanding 6-wicket victory, bringing Punjab Kings’ perfect streak in IPL 2026 to a halt. Yashasvi Jaiswal contributed 51 runs while Shubham Dubey remained not out on 31, though Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fell short of reaching his milestone 100th T20 maximum. Yuzvendra Chahal claimed three scalps for the home side, with Arshdeep Singh managing one wicket for PBKS. In the first innings, Marcus Stoinis unleashed a devastating 62 from just 22 balls after Prabhsimran Singh laid the foundation perfectly as Punjab Kings reached 222/4. Prabhsimran hammered 59 runs and formed excellent partnerships with Priyansh Arya and Shreyas Iyer to give his team the ideal platform. Stoinis seized the opportunity and remarkably struck 24 runs from the last 5 deliveries of their innings.Rajasthan Royals defeat Punjab Kings to end their winning streak .

PUNJAB KINGS-
Jofra Archer ramped up the velocity and extracted early movement to challenge Priyansh Arya. Even Prabhsimran Singh, coming off an incredible 76 from 26 balls, struggled to dominate the English speedster. Nandre Burger also delivered express pace, though his line and length were more manageable. Arya managed to drive through the line while Prabhsimran kept clearing his front leg and attacking the South African bowler. Burger delivered three overs in the Powerplay, leaking 45 of the 65 runs Royals allowed during that phase.
While Prabhsimran reached his fifty, PBKS gained momentum through Cooper Connolly who targeted both RR spinners Yash Raj Punja and Ravindra Jadeja effectively. Connolly’s brief innings ended in the ninth over after a quickfire 30 from 14 balls. Surprisingly, Shreyas Iyer appeared uncomfortable during his 27-ball knock of 30 runs, leaving his team dependent on Stoinis’s raw power to propel them toward a formidable total. RR suffered heavily in the closing three overs, surrendering 55 runs.

Stoinis showed no mercy to any bowler – Nandre Burger returned only to absorb more punishment, ending with expensive figures of 1/59 from four overs. Archer also endured a couple of maximums, before Stoinis damaged Brijesh Sharma’s statistics. The young fast bowler, who conceded merely 18 runs in his opening three overs, concluded with figures of 0-42. At that stage, PBKS appeared to have recovered just enough to provide their bowling attack with adequate runs. However, the evening had different plans.
RAJASTHAN ROYALS-
Arshdeep Singh delivered two excellent outswinging yorkers that Sooryavanshi could only block, but once Arshdeep switched to inswing, the explosive bat speed came alive as he whipped his opening six of the match. He followed up with two boundaries in the same over on both sides of the ground, seemingly declaring that no bowling strategy could contain the 15-year-old prodigy.
Lockie Ferguson stepped up next and watched the ball disappear repeatedly. The New Zealand pacer bowled full, prompting Sooryavanshi to execute a delightful wrist flick for six; Ferguson tried a slower knuckleball with identical results. Marco Jansen attempted deception with a change of pace, only to see it sail over deep midwicket. The solution emerged when Arshdeep bowled around the wicket, angling deliveries away from the left-hander. Sooryavanshi received one such low full-toss and aimed for the straight fence, but found Shreyas Iyer instead, departing disappointed after a 16-ball 43.
RR refused to let the dismissal affect their Powerplay momentum. Both Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel maintained the boundary flow. Despite an outstanding opening over from Harpreet Brar containing two singles and four dots, RR posted 84/1 after six overs, a score that proved crucial eventually.
The Punjab spin duo cleaned up after the early chaos. Brar remained difficult to score against, allowing just one boundary in his following two overs. Yuzvendra Chahal also started effectively with a tight five-run over. He struck with a full-toss – Dhruv Jurel attempted to smash the loose delivery over long on but picked out the fielder stationed there. Jaiswal reached his fifty before becoming Chahal’s second victim, miscuing a flighted delivery to the long off fielder.
Riyan Parag displayed glimpses of becoming RR’s match-winner, executing reverse sweep sixes and finding the deep midwicket boundary. However, on Chahal’s final delivery, he hit straight to deep midwicket and departed for a 16-ball 29 – his season’s best effort.

Arshdeep bowled two substandard overs by his usual standards during the middle and death phases, allowing Ferreira and Dubey to settle into the chase. A costly 14-run 15th over left RR needing 58 from the remaining 30 balls. Marco Jansen then suffered at the hands of the impact substitute, conceding a six and four in another expensive 15-run over. Ferguson managed to apply slight pressure with an eight-run over, but Ferreira and Dubey attacked Arshdeep for 17 runs in the following over.
Ferreira then displayed his power against Ferguson in the 19th over, launching one into the upper tier and crashing two boundaries to leave RR just two runs from victory. He applied the finishing touch with a six in the final over that also brought up his outstanding 26-ball 52. Dubey, who provided excellent support during their 77-run partnership, finished unbeaten with an impressive 31* from 12 deliveries.
Brief Scores:
Punjab Kings 222/4 in 20 overs [Marcus Stoinis 62* (22), Cooper Connolly 30 (14), Prabhsimran Singh 59 (44); Yash Raj Punja 2-41] lost to Rajasthan Royals 228/4 in 19.2 overs [Donovan Ferreira 52* (26), Yashasvi Jaiswal 51 (27), Vaibhav Sooryavanshi 43 (16); Yuzvendra Chahal 3-36] by 6 wickets.
