Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) crumbled to just 86 all out as Gujarat Titans (GT) secured a commanding 82-run triumph in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, climbing to the summit of the IPL 2026 standings. SRH captain Pat Cummins won the coin toss and chose to field first, with GT losing their skipper Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler in the early stages. Nevertheless, Sai Sudharsan (61) and Washington Sundar (50) crafted impressive half-centuries to guide their team to 168/5 across 20 overs. During the chase, Kagiso Rabada claimed three scalps and Mohammed Siraj grabbed one, as GT dominated the powerplay phase. Jason Holder captured three wickets in the middle phase, while Prasidh Krishna secured two dismissals. SRH’s formidable batting order collapsed spectacularly, with prominent names like Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen all falling short of expectations. GUJARAT TITANS-
On a surface requiring patience in the early phase, Shubman Gill couldn’t make the most of an early life, offering a simple catch to mid-on off Praful Hinge’s bowling after scoring only five runs. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins maintained excellent control with two disciplined powerplay spells, gradually increasing the pressure. Hinge then convinced his skipper to take a delayed caught-behind appeal against Jos Buttler, and the gamble worked as the home team stumbled to 26/2 in the powerplay’s closing over. A quick-fire contribution from Nishant Sindhu helped elevate the total to a reasonable 34/2 after six overs.

Sindhu’s aggressive approach was brief, though he continued the attack with a six and boundary off the costly Nitish Reddy. Cummins eventually ended the promising innings in the 10th over, leaving the Titans struggling at 68/3 at the midway point. Once established, Sai Sudharsan started to expand his strokeplay, building momentum smoothly with two maximums on his way to an elegant fifty from 38 balls. However, Sakib ended the vital 60-run stand by removing the settled batsman. Washington Sundar then maintained the tempo, helping GT mount a strong comeback in the closing overs. A costly 19th over from Eshan Malinga enabled the Titans to cross the 150-run barrier. Washington completed his half-century in the final over, achieving the feat off 32 deliveries. GT’s remarkable second-half resurgence produced 100 runs, providing their bowling attack with a defendable target against SRH’s typically destructive batting lineup.
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD-
SRH’s collapse started during the powerplay with a wicket-maiden from Mohammed Siraj, who dismissed the dangerous Travis Head for a four-ball duck. Abhishek Sharma greeted Rabada’s arrival with a six, but the South African responded decisively. Two balls afterward, the Indian opener dragged an inside edge onto his stumps, departing for six. Ishan Kishan also began with a maximum, but Rabada struck back in his next over, forcing an edge to the wicketkeeper. During the final powerplay over, Smaran Ravichandran lifted one directly to mid-off’s safe hands, leaving the visitors in serious trouble at 34/4.

Salil Arora stemmed the collapse and found several boundaries against GT’s fast bowlers to temporarily shift momentum. Even so, SRH managed only 54/4 by the ninth over. Prasidh then struck in the 10th, inducing an edge from Arora to the keeper. Holder delivered a double blow for SRH, removing the threatening Heinrich Klaasen for merely 14 with a bouncer. Three balls later in the same over, a spectacular diving catch from Washington ended Nitish Reddy’s stay, eliminating SRH’s final established batsman. Cummins provided some late resistance with the bat, but the outcome was already decided. He fell to Prasidh’s second dismissal. Rashid eventually got involved, removing Hinge to bowl out SRH for a paltry 86.
