WEST INDIES-
Electing to field first, England got off to a good start as John Turner quickly dismissed Brandon King and Evin Lewis. However, a steady 143-run partnership between Hope and Carty provided a solid foundation for West Indies to set a significant total. From a struggling 12/2 by the fourth over, they progressed cautiously to 41/2 after 10 overs. England delivered some tight spells, curbing boundary opportunities, with West Indies slowly reaching 85/2 after 20 overs.
As Hope and Carty shifted gears, they escalated the number of boundaries, both reaching fifties and establishing a hundred-run stand for a score exceeding 150 by the 30th over. Carty’s innings ended at 71 off 77 balls when he was bowled by Adil Rashid. Rutherford then took charge with aggressive intent, swiftly reaching a fifty off 35 balls and making a significant contribution in a 79-run partnership with Hope.
Rutherford was dismissed by Livingstone in the 40th over, leaving the West Indies at 235/4. Contributions in the 20s came from Shimron Hetmyer, Chase, and Forde, while their captain achieved his 17th ODI century. Hope was removed by in the 47th over, but the West Indies finished well, scoring 93 runs in the concluding 10 overs. Despite their efforts, the total fell short.
ENGLAND-
England’s start was shaky, losing two wickets within the first 12 overs. Will Jacks was out to a short delivery from Matthew Forde, and Jordan Cox misjudged a pull shot off Shamar Joseph, leaving England at 63/2. Phil Salt, on the other hand, was effective in finding the boundary and reached a 42-ball fifty with a four. His innings, however, ended at 59 to Forde. Jacob Bethell and Livingstone formed a stable partnership thereafter, with Bethell completing a 51-ball fifty. Roston Chase, attacked by Bethell for two fours and a six in a single over, eventually dismissed him with a mistimed shot.
Sam Curran joined Livingstone and made an immediate impact, hitting a six and a four off Gudakesh Motie. West Indies managed to apply pressure, limiting England to just two fours between overs 30 and 40. Entering the final 10 overs, England needed 100 runs, prompting Livingstone to accelerate his pace. From being 46 off 57 at the start of the 40th over, he reached 99 off 76 by the end of the 45th, aggressively striking Motie for three sixes and a four in two overs, while a significant 26-run over from Jayden Seales saw Livingstone hitting two sixes and two fours.
Curran surpassed fifty during this onslaught, and the duo took their partnership to 140, as Livingstone reached his century off 77 balls with a single. Forde dismissed Curran for his third wicket, yet Livingstone did not allow the West Indies any hope of recovery, launching three sixes and a four off Joseph in the 47th over. A couple of singles in the 48th over clinched the victory for England, who had Livingstone to credit for achieving the second-highest run chase in the Caribbean, leveling the series.
