ENGLAND-

The start was delayed over two hours due to wet conditions.  English opener Phil Salt got out for 22 in the tenth over by Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood. Will Jacks also fell early on for just ten as his attempted drive off Mitchell Marsh led to his dismissal.

Harry Brook was in fine form—coming off a century recently—showing exceptional timing and placement right from the start. He particularly found ease facing spinner Adam Zampa who had returned after illness kept him out of play last game. Then there was Duckett maintaining a run-a-ball pace before he mistimed a sweep shot against Zampa and got out.

LIAM LIVINGSTONEA solid partnership developed between Brook and Jamie Smith with Brook adding another 75 runs for the fourth wicket as they pushed England past the 200-run mark within just the first 28 overs. Unfortunately for England though? Brook perished at long-on after scoring an impressive 87 off merely fifty-eight balls; his innings included eleven fours & one six – all from leg-spinner Zampa’s deliveries.

Liam Livingstone unleashed fury towards Australia’s bowlers towards end of innings; finishing at sixty-two not out off twenty-seven deliveries alone! He especially targeted Starc’s final over bagging twenty-eight runs there itself causing surge up till score hit three hundred twelve-five —in mere thirty-nine overs!

Livingstone’s fiery innings meant that England achieved twelve sixes throughout their play—the highest tally ever recorded during ODIs played at Lord . It painted daunting picture challenge-wise ahead awaiting Australia & which eventually became their truth .

AUSTRALIA –

Chasing 313 in 39 overs, Australian openers Mitchell Marsh & Travis Head made an explosive start. They hammered the new-ball English attack, scoring 68 runs in just eight overs.

MATTHEW POTTSWith the scoring rate climbing higher each over, Brydon Carse gave England their first breakthrough by dismissing Head (34 off 23) in the ninth over. This dismissal not only broke a solid 68-run opening partnership but also started a collapse.

Matthew Potts, who eventually took four wickets, followed up with the crucial wicket of Steve Smith. Smith’s inside-edge was caught by the keeper as he tried to run down the crease. Jofra Archer then bowled Marsh in his second spell. Thus, Australia fell from 68 for no-loss to 80 for 3 very quickly. Carse struck twice more to remove Josh Inglis (caught at cover) and Marnus Labuschagne (bowled), worsening Australia’s position.

The situation deteriorated further when Archer caught Glenn Maxwell behind; this marked Maxwell’s third dismissal by Archer in seven games. The rest of Australia’s batting lineup folded swiftly as Potts claimed three of the last four wickets. Adil Rashid wrapped it up by bowling out Josh Hazlewood.

Brief Scores:

England 312/5 in 39 overs (Brook 87, Duckett 63, Livingstone 62*; Zampa 2-66) beat Australia who reached only 126 all out in 24.4 overs (Head 34; Potts took 4-38, and Carse got3-36) and won by a margin of 186 runs.
