The 1st Test match Bangladesh and New Zealand was played at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday ,November 28,2023 . Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat. Bangladesh scored 310 runs in the 1st innings. Mahmudul Hasan Joy did a great batting of 86 runs. There was not much support from other batsmen. Shanto and Mominul couldn’t convert to bigger innings. Glenn Phillips gave surprise by his mystery bowling and took 4 wickets.
New Zealand’s openers did not do anything special in the first innings. But Kane Williamson’s century was outstanding. The batting performance of Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips was decent . Brilliant bowling by Taijul Islam and Mominul restricted New Zealand to 317. Teijul islam took 4 wickets and Mominul took 3 wickets.
Shanto’s century in the 2nd innings of Bangladesh helped Bangladesh to get in a good position. Mushfiqur Rahim’s 67 runs and Mahidy Hasan Miraz’s half century took Bangladesh to 338 runs. Ajaz Patel bowling was expensive but managed to get 4 wickets.
New Zealand’s 2nd innings was a disaster. However, Daryl Mitchell’s 58 runs were not enough for New Zealand. Again Excellent bowling from Teijul islam bowled out New Zealand for 181. Teijul islam took 10 wickets in this test match and got the player of the match award.
This was First win of bangladesh at home against Kiwis.
