BANGLADESH

After choosing to bat first, Bangladesh launched aggressively with Tanzid finding the boundary twice in the first over, while Parvez Emon launched Akeal Hosein for six in the following over. Fortune smiled on Tanzid when he was put down at mid-off during the third over on 12, and he capitalized on this reprieve.

Unfortunately, his teammates couldn’t share in this good fortune as the West Indies maintained consistent pressure with regular wickets. Emon mistimed a delivery to backward point, while Litton Das struck one directly to fielder Gudakesh Motie, positioned at deep mid-wicket.

Despite the falling wickets around him, Tanzid maintained his aggressive approach, targeting Khary Pierre, Romario Shepherd, and Motie to reach his fifty while surviving another dropped opportunity. Bangladesh looked comfortable at 90 for 2 after 12 overs, but the West Indies regained control through a series of restrictive bowling spells.

The strain intensified on Bangladesh’s batting lineup, particularly affecting Saif Hassan, who found it difficult to accelerate his scoring. His innings ended when he was caught at deep square leg trying to hook a delivery from Jason Holder. The West Indies maintained their bowling pressure, claiming wickets consistently. Shepherd claimed two dismissals in consecutive deliveries during the final over, before Taskin Ahmad was dismissed via run-out on the match’s concluding ball.

WEST INDIES-

The West Indies began cautiously, scoring just 8 runs from their opening three overs and losing Alick Athnaze to a stumping. Nevertheless, Amir Jangoo, who had been given a reprieve when dropped in the second over, capitalized on his fortune. He punished Taskin’s bowling with three crisp boundaries followed by a maximum several overs afterward.

Despite Bangladesh successfully removing both Brandon King and Jangoo within a short span, they failed to seize control of the match. Chase and Auguste adapted skillfully to the playing conditions, consistently locating the boundary to maintain the asking rate comfortably within reach. This occurred even as Mahedi completed an exceptional 11-over stint, allowing merely 15 runs.

Two overs following this, Auguste targeted Rishad Hossain, launching three consecutive sixes that effectively crushed Bangladesh’s victory chances. Adding insult to injury, both he and Chase attacked Taskin’s bowling in the subsequent over, soon reaching their individual fifty-run milestones. Although Rishad managed to dismiss both batsmen within three deliveries, the match outcome had already been determined.

Rovman Powell deflected an inswinging yorker from Taskin during the 17th over, taking a single that secured West Indies’ triumph.

Brief Scores:

Bangladesh 151 in 20 overs (Tanzid Hasan 89, Saif Hassan 23; Romario Shepherd 3-36, Khary Pierre 2-23) lost to West Indies 152/5 in 16.5 overs (Ackeem Auguste 50, Roston Chase 50; Rishad Hossain 3-43) by 5 wickets .
