Josh Inglis and Cameron Green gatecrashed Andre Russell’s farewell party as Australia took a comprehensive victory and the T20I series 2-0. In his last international, for now at least, Russell hit a 15-ball 36 but it was Inglis and Green’s unbroken 131-run stand that helped Australia canter to their target of 173 with nearly five overs to spare . Inglis and Green’s Destructive Inning Was Total Clueless For West Indies .

WEST INDIES-

BRANDON KINGAustralia sent West Indies in to bat as both teams gave Russell a guard of honour prior to his last appearance. Debutant Matthew Kuhnemann impressed early by conceding only 10 runs in his first two overs but Brandon King then finally took him apart 20 in one over to provide his side with some vital momentum in the powerplay. With Shai Hope unable to find his feet and barely able to get strike at the other end, King took the majority of the scoring into his own hands in the first ten, racing to a fifty by the eighth over.

But the arrival of Adam Zampa got the job done as King miscued one to hand Australia their first wicket. Maxwell had Hope caught behind off the very next ball and then went on to pick up the crucial wicket of Shimron Hetmyer too as the hosts crumbled from a position of strength. Zampa’s twin-strike over in which he dismissed Chase and Sherfane Rutherford suited West Indies fine as Russell had the crowd on its feet in an entertaining final display in maroon.

Ben Dwarshuis was clubbed for three sixes in an over, Zampa was taken down in the next as Russell sped to 31 off 11. But when Nathan Ellis bowled to him at some pace for a change, he didn’t get hold of one, and tapped the ball back with 20 deliveries still to be faced in the innings. That made a difference particularly with Jason Holder and Rovman Powell also not doing much. Had it not been for Modie’s little cameo in the last two, West Indies would have managed to get 160 on the board but in the end even 200 would not have been enough for what Inglis and Green pulled off.

AUSTRALIA-

Opening the innings, Glenn Maxwell took Akeal Hosein downtown with a four and a six off the very first over only for Jason Holder to strike in the following over to provide his team an early scalp. Mitchell Marsh was the next to top edge a ballistic in the final over of the power play to depart for 21 to give the home side the edge at that point. That was much too close and it could yet have much much better had West Indies held on to their opportunities in the next over off Gudakesh Motie. Amazeballs, all three of those opportunities were grassed and the Aussies made proper Bob Dazzling hay.

JOSH INGLISInglis struck two sixes and three fours over the next two overs which produced 32 runs to inject some momentum into the Australia chase. Roston Chase was then greeted at the crease by a six from Green and Australia never looked back after that assault. Russell was welcomed to the attack with a huge six over deep midwicket which took Inglis to his fifty in 23 balls and Green on his part took on Motie in the next over, the two batsmen were in hurry to wrap this up. The 15th over fetched 22 runs and even as Green also completed his fifty just before Australia got through.

Brief scores:

West Indies 172/8 in 20 overs (Brandon King 51, Andre Russell 36; Glenn Maxwell 2/15) lost to Australia 173/2 in 15.2 overs (Josh Inglis 78\*, Cameron Green 56\*) by 8 wickets.
